Montreal Sexual Assault Centre (MSAC)

We are looking for severals counselors to join our Sexual Violence Helpline team to start at the end of September 2025:

  • One permanent position from Wednesday evening to Saturday morning from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. (24 hours/week + a 3-hour team meeting per month)
  • One permanent position from Wednesday evening to Saturday morning from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. (24 hours/week + a 3-hour team meeting per month
  • One permanent part-time position working 3 days from Wednesday evening to Saturday morning from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. (21 hours/week + a 3-hour team meeting per month)


About the Sexual Violence Helpline

Since 2010, this helpline has been offering listening, information and resources to victims of any form of sexual violence, as well their loved ones and those who work with them. Our service also responds to requests from LAFU (Emergency Financial Assistance Line). The Sexual Violence Helpline is accessible by telephone or by chat.



Job description – On-call Counsellor 

The Sexual Violence Helpline team is looking for new counsellors to add to its on-call list. Counsellors on the on-call list must be able to provide counselling both over the phone and by chat.

The role of a Sexual Violence Helpline on-call counsellor consists in:

  • offering active listening
  • providing accurate, pertinent information
  • demystifying sexual violence and its consequences
  • referring callers to the appropriate resources
  • responding promptly and efficiently to emergency and crisis situations
  • evaluating and responding to requests for emergency financial assistance from professionals and caregivers from different settings.


Requirements:

  • University diploma in counselling or other relevant fields or College Diploma (DEC) in counselling or other relevant fields combined with equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of work experience
  • Specific interest in the issue of sexual violence and violence towards women
  • Experience working with victims of sexual violence or criminal acts would be an asset
  • Must be able to work nights
  • Excellent analytical skills and collaborates well with others
  • Knowledge of support services for victims in Quebec.
  • Comfortable working with evolving computer systems
  • Good knowledge of French and English, both verbal and written.


Excellent working conditions:

  • Initial in-person training program;
  • Professional development to ensure up-to date knowledge on issues related to sexual violence.
  • Group insurance and pension plan contribution;
  • Workplace: hybrid in-person and remote work, depending on service needs;
  • Based on CVASM salary scales, salary starting at 30.14$ per hour during night and 27.4$ during the day and training session,
  • Enhanced financial compensation in lieu of paid public holidays and sick leave
  • 4 weeks of annual vacation.

Montréal Sexual Assault Centre (MSAC)

We are looking for two clinical follow-up workers to join our clinical team as soon as possible:

  • Temporary position to cover maternity leave, full-time 28 hours per week, until May 2026 (9 months), potentially renewable until September 2026.
  • Temporary full-time position, 28 hours per week, until the end of October 2026, potentially renewable.


Job description

The caseworker offers short- and medium-term individual clinical counselling to victims of sexual violence and their loved ones. The objective of these counselling sessions is to provide support for victims and help them regain control of their lives.



The person we are looking for must have the following qualifications:

  • A master’s degree in the field of social sciences; or a Graduate Diploma (D.E.S.S.) or a graduate-level certificate (microprogramme) combined with relevant and significant experience;
  • Member of a recognized Québec professional order
  • Experience in working with adult victims of sexual violence, mental health, PTSD, crisis intervention, individual clinical follow-up
  • Knowledge, competencies and skills in therapeutic relationships
  • Knowledge of the judicial process would be an asset
  • Ability to question oneself, ask for support and communicate with the team
  • Autonomy, sound clinical judgement, analysis and synthesis of information, introspection and ability to adapt
  • Fluency in spoken and written French and English.


Advantageous employment conditions:

  • Four-day work week;
  • Hybrid remote and in-person work model ;
  • Compensation based on MSAC salary scale, starting at $38/hour;
  • 4 weeks of annual vacation;
