Job description:
A day shift counsellor is a member of our medico-social intervention team, which works with the Designated Centre providing medico-social services for sexual assault victims, in partnership with the Montreal General Hospital and the GMF Clinique Medic Elle. This service responds to the needs of victims 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in both French and English.
A day shift counsellor provides support throughout the various steps in the medico-social intervention process for any person 18 years of age or over who has been a victim of sexual assault during the previous 12 months.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, sexology, criminology, psycho-education or other relevant related fields, or Undergraduate degree or DEC in a relevant field, combined with significant experience in working with victims of sexual violence or crime, or in a related medico-social field;
- Work experience in intervention with victims of sexual violence and other criminal offences would be asset
- Experience in medico-social intervention in a designated centre would be an asset
- Comfortable working in a medical setting
- Able to work both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent knowledge of French and English.
Conditions d’emploi avantageuses :
- Work schedule: on-call shifts (2 x 16 hours per month) in the evening, at night, at weekends and on public holidays;
- Workplace: in person;
- Salary: $29.12/hour during training and meetings,
- Salary of $43.68/hour for on-call emergency until 10 pm,
- Salary of $48.04/hour for on-call emergency between 10pm and 6am,
- Salary of $58.23/shift (one shift = 8 hours) for on-call availability;
- Enhanced financial compensation in lieu of paid public holidays and sick leave
- 4 weeks of annual vacation.

- Medico-social services for sexual assault victims 18 years of age and over
- Individual counselling for sexual assault victims 18 years of age and over
- Support provided 24/7 by the Sexual Violence Helpline for people of all ages in Québec affected by sexual violence
