Dedicating our expertise and resources to helping victims
Who we are
Since its founding in 1980, the Montreal Sexual Assault Centre (MSAC) has been committed to offering essential support and assistance to anyone affected by sexual violence. Backed by their vast experience and profound commitment, our teams adopt best practices to support individuals affected by violence in all regions of Québec in a spirit of empathy and sensitivity.
Our services
We offer support services adapted to victims’ situations and needs. We offer help directly—in person, over the telephone and by chat—and indirectly, by supporting their loved ones and the people that work with them. All of our services are free of charge, confidential and available in both French and English.
Medico-social intervention
Our counsellors provide support 24/7 for anyone 18 years of age or over who has been a victim of sexual assault during the past 12 months, responding to both their psychological and medical needs. We also offer assistance in connection with legal proceedings. This service is available in Montréal.
Individual clinical follow-up
Our professional caseworkers offer emotional support during individual sessions that are adapted to each victim’s situation and needs. This service, offered in Montréal, is available to anyone 18 years of age or over who was sexually assaulted during the past 12 months.
Sexual Violence Helpline
Our counsellors offer a welcoming, confidential space over the telephone or by chat, as well as answers to any question related to sexual violence. Victims and those who care about them can count on support 24/7 anywhere across the province.
Support Service for designated centres
In partnership with the Québec Ministry of Health and Social Services (Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux), the Support Service offers support to members of medico-social teams working in the province’s designated centres and anyone else involved in the operation of those centres by responding to their clinical, organizational and training needs.
